Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change

During the Autumn term the students on our partners’ 'TOAST programme complemented their learning with work experience with CORMAC at their local park 'Victoria Gardens'. They worked alongside Matt Stannard who provided the students with a range of experiences from litter picking, bulb planting, to propagating plants for next spring, and even planting a young tree. Over this period they had the opportunity to learn skills they did not previously have and further developed their cooperation and communication skills. It was a very positive experience and several students have discovered they enjoy gardening activities much to their surprise!

Cornwall Marine Network

Cornwall Marine Network (CMN) has created the ‘Ready to Earn’ programme, to provide an alternative educational programme to mainstream school and college. They will be using their new VLN 16-18 budget and their Adult Education Budget (AEB) for 19-24 NEETS across the Cornish county.

So what does the ‘Ready to Earn’ programme involve?

CMN will have a mixture of blended delivery, with both face to face and online learning and will be including the support from the CMN voluntary Marine Ambassadors in the following areas;

· Curriculum development

· Activities and taster days

· Work Experience and volunteering opportunities

· Inspirational career talks

· Mock Interviews

· Looking at placements, jobs and Apprenticeships.

The Ready to Earn project will create stronger working relationships and more realism with jobs between young people and businesses.

Please contact Dave Wickes at david.wickes@cornwallmarine.net or telephone 01326 211382 should you be interested in enrolling.

Well done to our partners!
